Informative Autobiography of Large Baptist Church

Fine story of how God called and used this man to pastor one of America's largest churches -- First Baptist in Dallas.
Having lived there and hearing much of what this church and fine man of God were about, this is certainly an informative look at a man of God who believes God's Word and stood up for it in the face of odds against, e.g. everyone else was fleeing the inner city for the suburbs, not Criswell and First Baptist.
Certainly motivational for Christians of all persuasions to stand firm on God's promises, which have there yes, there amen, in Christ crucified.

He’s won numerous Grammy and Dove Awards and is the founder of Rocketown, an outreach to teenagers in a 38,000 square-foot facility in downtown Nashville, Tennessee. He is involved in mission work around the world. He has also written several best-selling books, including Old Enough To Know and Friends Are Friends Forever. He and his wife Debbie have five children and live in Nashville.

Worship is Food For The Soul
Worship, a book and enhanced CD combination by multi-award-winning singer, songwriter, author, and pastor Michael W. Smith, is a fresh collection of ideas and prayers enriched with down-to-earth thoughts and photographs about how Worship should be an integral part of an individual's life.
This book is a compliment to the platinum-selling Worship CD released on September 11, 2001, the historical day of the 21st century Pearl Harbor style attack on New York. An enhanced CD is included with this book and contains a first class recording of Breathe, a Michael W. Smith Video documenting the Worship tour, screensavers for both Windows and Macintosh, and computer background wallpapers...a nice finishing touch to a simple yet elegant and powerful book.
Smith, known by many as the "real deal" in his walk with the Lord, obviously has deep rooted passion for his relationship with the Creator and that shows through brilliantly in this book. He cites the example of being in concert and becoming aware "that something far more profound than a performance is going on...an incredible sense of worship will settle over the arena...At that moment, I realize that I am no longer the performer. I've joined with the audience, and together we are in awe of His presence." This writer has experienced this personally at a 1999 Florida concert by Smith and a review of this concert is online...
The writings in the Worship book provide a brief glimpse into Smith's personal walk with the Lord and relates several key scriptures. Many times it's easy for well-known people to get caught up in the arrogance of fame, but one thing unique about Smith is his dedication to the premise of living the life you preach about and that one should remember "it's not all about you."
I can easily see Worship, the book, as a permanent fixture on my living room coffee table, for everyone to pickup and browse. As Smith says toward the end of the book, "Worship sustains us. Our spirits need Worship like our bodies need food." Worship, the book, is truly Food for the Soul.

Signs Are everywhere

I wanted this book because Michael is a Christian and I so much need "signs" and guidance since Jim has died. Yes, I'm a Christian too, but that doesn't make the pain any less. My life is so completly upside down now. I started reading this book and got through to chapter 2 and stopped. i stopped because i want to go back and start reading again, but slowly not at my usual speed reading pace. There is so much to absorb.

This is a wonderful book, please buy it and watch, look and listen for God's still small signs.

This book is the second remarkable effort by a very able author and historian toward capturing and recording the role of one of the major arms of service during the Vietnam War-the helicopter. His introductory chapter summarizes early helicopter employment in Korea, Indo-China, Malaya, Algeria, and Borneo, actions which are studied in detail by U.S. Army personnel who had the necessary vision to look to the future. It is of some interest to note that the story of "Vietnam choppers" actually commenced about two years prior to the studies by the Howze Board and the formation of the 11th Air Assault Division (Test) in February, 1963 which marked the birth of the "sky cavalry". The story began on 1 November 1961, when the 57th and 8th Transportation Companies (Light Helicopter) from Ft. Lewis, Washington and Ft. Bragg, North Carolina were alerted for deployment to an unknown destination. The destination was Vietnam and the author covers literally the full spectrum of operations from that first deployment of over a quarter century ago to the final, tragic, and pitiful agonies of the American effort in Vietnam. Dunstan's book is both technical and tactical in content. The major capabilities and limitations of each type of helicopter are addressed in detail and for the military or civilian reader who maybe interested in what was done, how, and where, methods of employment, tactics, and techniques are carefully described. We learn of the organization and evolution of the helicopter units of various types within the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps as well as their capabilities and limitations in action are well covered. The author offers an excellant treatise on the logistical role of the helicopter and his section on medical evacuation is superb. Perhaps the most unique aspect is contained in the combat after-action reports which the author has expertly woven into his account. One can't read the accounts of "Mad Man" Kelly, Gary Wetzel, or Chief Warrant Officer Novisel without a clear recognition of the incredible professionalism, sense of duty, and dedication of the thousands of helicopter crews who experienced Vietnam. The actions selected here were "above and beyond the call of duty", but are representative of all the crews who did their duty in the most frustrating and complex combat environment yet faced by the American military. Recognition must also be given to the more senior soldiers who broke the "helicopter trail". Here we remember those early pioneers Hamilton Howze, Robert Williams, Jay Vanderpool, Phil Seneff, Harry Kinnard, Jim Smith, Delk Oden, and Bob Shoemaker. These fine soldiers wee closely followed by those who were called "operators", refining and modifying the earlier pioneer work: men such as Archie Clapp, Bill Maddox, Kit Sinclair, Jim Patterson, Charlie Canedy, Bob Molinelli, Ben Harrison, and Doc Bahnsen. All these great personalities and many more too numerous to mention, had indirectly contributed to the work of this outstanding account, and their influence in the maturing of air mobility for ground combat forces as frequently shown throughout this text.
